From Dallas to Austin, it's about 2 1/2 hours drive time, depending on traffic. From Austin to Houston, I'd say about 3 1/2 hours. And if you're just going thru Houston, say on to the gulf, take the belt loop around the city, you'll avoid a lot of traffic.

Maperoute that is the worst answer ever. It's 286 miles from Houston to Dallas, not 600. And it's certainly not 500 miles from Dallas to Austin...you can drive it easily in 2 1/2 hours...and not at 200 mph either.

from dallas to fort worth about an hour or less depending on where you are coming from and headed. fort worth to austin, 3 hours. fort worth to san antonio, almost 5. fort worth to houston 4-5. houston to austin, 3 or less. houston to san antonio, 3. san antonio to austin, less than 2.
all these times are general and can be less or more depending one where you start and end.
