credit repairs good n all, but my business is up and running now, not in a couple years when all that would be over. I need a viable place to put my money, not a prepaid debit card. I realize I have made these errors, and I am working at taking care of them, but I need a bank.

~Honestly, banks just want your business.
I've known people to do things w/ their bank accounts... and then have swallowed their pride, and gone into the bank and "apologized", and then asked the bank (sincerely) to please give them another chance and allow them to straighten out the mess they made... explain that you just flat out screwed up... and that this is really important to you... that you can fix this... (They really want to SEE that you are willing to accept responsibility for your screw up! And they want to KNOW that you have learned your lesson - and, they need to understand that you want to do better...) Once they see all of that, and once they understand that you are building a business, (which means cash flow to them...) THEN, they usually will bend - and, try to do what they can to help you out.
Seriously, the most they can do is say no, (but they usually don't!) :)

God bless you, and I hope it all works out for you. (Good on you for trying to improve your life!)

I suggest you go to a bigger bank. Banks don't typically run a credit check to those who want to open a checking account with them, though I've seen a small bank do this.

With a Doing Business As or Assumed Name certificate, you can open a checking account for your business. This is the information on how to start a business in NY http://www.nylovessmallbusiness.com/starting_a_business/licenses_regulations.asp though for business registration, go to your local county and check for their requirements. This site has links to various NY counties so see if your county has a website and whether they post information on how to register a business

Start knocking on doors. Much of the time it's a branch manager's decision whether to let someone on check systems open an account. If you keep on asking someone will eventually give you what you need.
