I have a cousin (and she 15 so you can't say that it's because she a kid) that wont eat any food if it touches another food. I don't know why she just can't bring herself to do it. Even though I've told her hundreds of time it all going the same place she wont do it.

Do you have this problem? is it all of you food or just some foods?
Does it really matter?

It could be obsessive compulsive disorder.
Personally, I won't eat fries if they have touched coleslaw (alot of local restaurants serve them side by side) because I don't like the way they taste with the coleslaw dressing on them.

I hate it, and I'm 30+. I suppose in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter, but I personally like to eat one thing at a time. I find if I enjoy the taste of a particular vegetable, then I don't want to have any other tastes interfering. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It could be worse!

When I was a kid, not only would I not eat the parts of my food that touched, I would eat it in a specific order based on colour. I started with reddish foods and moved through the colour spectrum from there ending with white. The last thing I would eat would be the main entree. My mother actually started to place food on my plate according to this colour scheme. She told me that it was the best thing as it ensured that I actually ate all of my dinner. If this is the only thing she does that can be considered obsessive behaviour then I doubt there's anything to worry about. We all have our strange little peccadilloes that makes us unique.

When I was younger (ten and below) I absolutely hated my food touching. It could be any food. Steak w/ green beans. Didn't matter, they couldn't touch or I wouldn't eat it. But now I've grown out of that.

My husband like to mix his whole dinner together sometimes and with certain meals only, I'm kinda the opposite, I don't have the problem of them not touching, I just don't like to mix mine up as much.

No, I don't have that problem at all. I enjoy mixing the flavors on my plate. I think that behavior is the beginning of OCD.

Actually I do.

But only for some foods, like if one is really bitter, and the other is sweet... they just don't mix.

But I LOVE to mix my sweet corn and mashed taters together.

She will grow out of it! I was just like that, somewhere in my pre 20's (all a blur now) everything came together on one plate.
