Julius Caesar: why was assassination the only alternative?

I have to do an essay on why the assassination of Caesar was the 'only alternative'. I am arguing FOR assassination, so could you please help me with points I can argue in my essay? Thank you!

Because once someone is dead. They can not try to take power from you.

Dead is final. Like a disease, you need to kill it completely or it will only fester and eventually grow stronger.
