It really depends on what is hot to you. If you come form a very hot climate then Chicago may not get too hot for you. But usually when August is here, it can be pretty hot at times. Downtown Chicago is always cooler in the summer due to lake Michigan. To answer your question, I would say May, June, July & September can also be pretty nice.

Probably around May, June, July. It's not too hot, baseball season is kicking into gear (you can go to a White Sox or Cubs game), the street fair season is kicking off, the parks and beaches are great places to visit, you can rent a bike and cruise up and down the lakefront bike paths, Navy Pier has it's fireworks shows at night on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Chicago is great in the summertime.

Hard to say in Chicago. Jun - Sept is a good time but we can have a couple really hot days in that time. Overall it tends to be pretty nice.

I personally think April or May is the best time. After Memorial Day it can get hellishly hot, and tourist spots can get very crowded.

Depends on what you want to do there.
I like going June thru September, when it's not too cold and there won't be any driving problems.
