the chicken, obviously if the egg came first it would die because if the egg had no incubation if would lose heat and die. it takes one chicken to lay an egg, and once that egg is out in the open, it needs a constant source of heat.

I think the egg had to come first. I think that the chicken was actually a mutant dinosaur and the whole clutch was along with it. They then bred with other dinosaurs, therefore evolving into what we know today as a "chicken".
I don't think the chicken came first because it would have had to be a dinosaur that somehow, magically, evolved into a chicken. But it would have had to come from an egg. Wouldn't it?

the egg, because dinosaurs layed eggs, but they weren't chickens. the question never stated that it was a CHICKEN egg, therefore, the egg was first.
