It has to do with the influences of sexism, feminism, and there being less sexual activity among lesbians.

To the haters, lesbianism is nothing because they regard women as nothing. Men are held to a higher standard so what they do is nasty and obscene. Women are overlooked, and it is even a sexual fantasy of men to do threesome with lesbians.

The haters see nothing wrong with promoting oneself to the next level (ie., acting like men), but everything wrong with someone deliberately choosing a lower station in life. This even is carried out in the spiritual world. People play god every day, and how may of them get stoned or crucified for that? But when God became a man, what happened to Him? So this just further illustrates the human nature of supporting those who choose to promote themselves to a higher station of life, while hating those who do what is perceived as choosing a lower station in life.

Then feminism has gained rights for women to freely express themselves, but has accomplished less for men in that regard. So women can do many stereotypically "butch" behaviors without it even raising an eyebrow. There is no organized men's movement of count that is fighting to liberate men from outdated notions and expectations. So as a result, men are only allowed by society to dress and act as men. However, women can dress and act according to either set of social roles. There are far more clothing and behavioral options for women. They are given a larger "box" by society, so they are not as likely to risk going outside the box. But men have very few options, and if they go outside the very small and cramped box they are given, they are automatically seen as suspect and labelled as gay.

Then there is the inherent differences in brain wiring. This may sound stereotypical, but men are more about doing and women are more about being. Men make friends through their activities and women make friends through the relationships they form. So carrying that to sex, a male-male pair would be more concerned with sex, and a female-female pair would be more concerned with bonding and mostly just being there for one another and hearing each other out. Now society has a problem with sex, and since it is believed there is more sex among gay men than among lesbians, then gay men are assumed to be more disgusting and nasty.

Lesbians aren't accepted more as much as exploited more. Look at the porn industry - they've made millions by capitalizing on the 'lesbian fantasy'. Straight women make out with each other in bars for the pleasure of male onlookers. Some men say two women together is hot, but two men together is gross.

This is all part of the double standard, where two women together is not a threat, so it's tolerated because it's benefitting a man. It's not acceptance, it's exploitation. In reality, men enter nowhere in a lesbian relationship. In a fantasy land, lesbians are there for a man's pleasure. It makes the idea of 'lesbianism' attractive.
Two men together is not benefitting a man's fantasy life, therefore does not have to be tolerated. It's a threat, so it's not accepted. Gay men are seen as threatening, for whatever reason (they're a threat to the idea of a "real man", they're challenging power privileges men have in society, they reject the idea of masculinity in a Western, patriarchal concept, whatever you wanna argue), so they have to be subjugated.

Speaking in general, patriarchal terms. I don't personally think gay men HAVE to be subjugated, but this is what happens.

In my opinion, women as a whole are far more nurturing than men. Debatable as to whether that is due to instinct or to role models, but I think it's true for the most part. Therefore women tend to accept others for who they are with greater ease than men. Men have this need to be in control, hence the phrase 'king of his castle'. Again, from nature or nurture, who knows. It does seem to be traditional throughout most societies past and present. This makes the sexuality of lesbians non-threatening to men for they will not attempt to usurp his 'manhood'. However, gay men are threatening to some men for some convoluted reason, because in the minds of these phobic men the gay men will attempt to push their sexuality upon him. Foolish in reality, but since there is usually only one dominant rooster is the chicken coop any percieved threat to that position or any threat to his image is considered to be something to curb at all cost.

It seems some people think that a gay guy will fall in lust with every guy they see and just stick their willie into whatever comes near. As men, they can have more force and be scary.... Women are just poor and defenseless and you never hear about them raping anyone.... Well. Society it DOES happen. It happens with Gay/Lesbian/HETEROSEXUAL/Bisexual/whatev... People are weird. Gay man, lesbian woman, straight men/women. Plus.... I think two guys is SEXY ;) I guess I am a little weird. But who isn't?

JUST A THOUGHT...... straight guys are apt to be a little bit more opinionated and vocal that women, they also find the idea of two women together really hot and the thought of two guys together gross. That just one thought on why lesbians are more accept than gays.....

yes i know, people are secretly perverts and have no problem seeing two women together,or the thought of.but remember, gay is gay, male or female, just the fact that they are female, males tend to be thought of as the breadwinners, head of households, etc, that's why people cant accept two men,its rather silly and hypocritical.

Women are thought to be soft ~ let's use the metaphor 'cotton'
and Men are thought to be rough, and rugged ~ let's use the metaphor 'rock'

when you take two pieces of cotton and rub them together, it's not agitating. when you take two rocks and rub them together, it is kind of agitating. meaning... the thought of 2 men together doesn't 'rub well' with many people.

Because its easier to tell a gay person from a lesbian. Sometimes gay people will talk different, dress different...ususally girls arent as sterotypical if they are a lesbian. Thats my theory, but I wouldnt know because i'm not a lesbian.

Lesbians=eye candy

That's the only reason they get more "acceptance" if you want to call it that.

The word gay does not refer to just men as you implied. Lesbians are gay also. However in God's eyes sin is sin and that's what counts, What He thinks, not what society accepts.
