You don't have to be a doctor to own the building itself. In fact, many doctor's office buildings are owned by corporations.

In most states, in order to open a professional office, you MUST have the professional license.

However, you CAN open an adjunct store and have a separate medical practice lease space from you.

Example: Pearle Vision centers. The optical store is not a medical office. But an independent doctor of optometry usually leases space inside or next to the store.

You may own the structure, lease the space to any one you wish and NOT be a doctor. Shopping malls do this all of the time.

Duh! Do you think high-rise office buildings are owned by any specific professional? If so, which would they choose? There are so many!
