about the capsized ship off devon coast.the news said the police have cordoned off area for fear of looting.i thought anything that was washed up on the beach was free for anypone to pick up.i remember a few years ago when all that timber washed ashore.what is the ruling???

Ships and the items on them are the property of the owners.
If a loose item, not identifiable as being someone else. is washed up - then it is a finders item.
Vehicles (cars, ships, trucks ) that are abandoned for a long time, do become public after awhile. Check with your local authority for the rules.

that's the case but i think with the size of the ship and the cargo on and off the boat hundreds would be hitting the beach could luck if you do
