Nearly 8 weeks ago i had an abortion (at 15 weeks). It was a very hard decision for me but me and my boyfriend eventually decided we couldnt support a baby and although i love my boyfriend i didnt think our relationship would be strong enough to bring a baby up in. The problem is i still am having pregnancy signs, although i had my period, it was shorter and lighter then usual. Also i have been experiencing feelings in my stomach, they arent like pains more like dull achey or sharp twinges. My breasts are also still quite sore and keep changing shape and colour!
I wanted to ask here for other peoples opinions as im not sure if there is something wrong or maybe i am just thinking it to it too much. Please help!

Thanks to all helpful answers and support x. To all the anti abortion people i fully appreciate you have your own opinions but as you do not know anything about me or my situation you shouldn't judge people and i really don't think your comments were very constructive!

did you go in for your follow up exam? if you haven't, you should. they will make sure that everything is still ok. you can't expect your period to be exactly the same as it was before. your body went through some major changes.

I think by now you would have found that any pregnancy symptoms should have ceased....after an abortion you are at high risk of conceiving again so is there any chance that you have had sex unprotected? If not it could be a psychological affect of the termination as you will emotionally be going through allsorts of things right now. 15 weeks is a long time to become accustomed to the signs and symptoms of pregnancy so perhaps your body is trying to adapt to things after a long period of being pregnant. It must have been hard to abort that late on, but I wouldnt judge you .All I could suggest is that you go and see your G.P because a friend of mine who had a termination at 10 weeks ended up with three years of trying to clear up an ongoing infection she got after hers so its possible that you may have an infection-im sure the Doctor told you the risks for that were quite high. Goodluck for the future

The body goes through many changes in preparation for a pregnancy, huge doses of hormones are being distributed throughout the body and like any presriction medication, it takes time for the body's hormonal levels to reach normal (non pregnant) range. Of course I also believe that it is not only hormones but also there may be some type of support that you need to get with, i.e. a couselor, pastor, or friend. In any case, this is a loss, not only to your physiological self, but also emotional. Hope this helps.

Sometimes, depending on what sort of abortion you had i think, there can be part left over as it doesn't get taken out properly. Sorry to make sound so kind of mechanical. Its the best way i could think to put it.

You should get yourself checked ut straight away. All pregnancy symptoms should go on the day of the procedure.

Hope all is ok for you - it is traumatising enough without complications.

As with any surgical procedure, there are potential risks and complications that may occur. In comparison to other surgical procedures, the rate of complications following an abortion is very low. Fewer than 1 in 200 patients have serious complications following this surgery. In order to minimize the chance of complications, it is very important that you provide us with a complete and accurate medical history, that you follow all of the aftercare instructions we provide you with, and that you have a check-up three weeks after your abortion.

We are committed to safely and completely terminating your pregnancy. If there are problems or complications that arise, we prefer that you call us directly so that we can provide you with the care and treatment necessary to successfully terminate your pregnancy. As a facility that specializes in abortion care, we are uniquely equipped to diagnose and treat complications that may arise. Should you choose to seek treatment elsewhere, you may incur additional costs and be treated by providers who are less familiar with abortion care.

A safe, legal, first trimester vacuum aspiration abortion performed by a board certified gynecologist should not affect a woman's ability to conceive a pregnancy and carry it to term in the future. Statistics are inconclusive concerning women who have multiple (more than three) abortions. More information is available from the Alan Guttmacher Institute (www.agi-usa.org), the leading reproductive health research institute in the United States.

i think there is is a chance that you are still pregnant if you are still feeling something in your stomach or maybe it's all in your head. why don't you buy a pregnancy test. maybe the things that were suppose to come out didn't all come out. if u are having pains around your belly botton it will definitely be an infection.

A pregnancy test may still come back positive, as the pregnancy hormones will still be in your body. Go back to your GP and tell him/her your symptoms, you may have an infection.
Use a condom if you have sex as this could cause infection too.
You did the right thing, don't listen to ppl who obviously don't understand what you have just gone through.

It may be a few months before your body gets back to normal, just if you had, had a miscarriage. There are still alot of hormones built up in your body. I would talk to a doc about it too be sure but I think that is the case

And for the person that said she didnt use protection. (HUSH) How the hell do you know? Judgemental ***

There ARE SOME JUDGEMENTAL PRICKS ON HERE> ASK GOD FOR FORGIVENESS??? TELLING HER SHE IS WRONG??DOESNT SHE FEEL BAD ENOUGH YOU GOD DAMN LIFER!! I HATE PEOPLE THAT COME ON HERE AND PROCEED TO TELL PEOPLE THEY ARE HORRIBLE FOR HAVING AN ABORTION> YOU DO NOT KNOW HER SITUATION< YOU HAVENT BEEN THERE- AND AT 15 WEEKS NO YOU DO NOT FEEL MOVEMENT THAT SOON MAYBE SLIGHT FLUTTERS>YES 15 WEEKS IS ABOUT THE CUT_OFF> YOU KNOW NOTHING> GOD PEOPLE ARE SO HATEFUL
