I used to work for an aquarium maintenance service. The sight of that tank sends chills down my spine. ;)

Let me tell you... the walls of tall tanks like this are virtually impossible to clean. Plecos will only clean it to a point -- how are you going to scrape hard or hair algae off the walls six feet down? You could use a long-handled tool, but it's almost impossible to get leverage at that distance since you can't get a good angle to the glass...

Secondly, the number of fish you can keep is typically proportional to the top surface area of the tank (where oxygen exchanges) so... a tank like this can only have a few fish. That is, unless the water is undergoing some kind of massive circulation, in which case your fish will always be fighting a weirdly unnatural up-down current.

I thought Octagons lived in burrows not tanks? And isn't 6ft a bit small, or are you getting a dwarf octagon?

deep or wide both will cost a small fortune an would only be practical if u have more money than brains or are planning on opening a small sea world

I see one of these the other year in the Gadget shop in Lakeside. They look awesome but then it cost around £800, probably £1000 these days. I haven't got one but if you want happy fish, get one because fish are happier with more depth
