Samardzija was a hands down 1st round pick as a NFL WR, he has great size 6"5 and runs a 4.3 in the 40-yd dash. But as a Baseball pitcher he throws 99-101 mph fast ball. Personally I'm pissed about this decision because I would have loved to see him in a Jets uniform.

Yes. U can last a long time in the MLB if u have decent stuff which I think he has. There are many roles he can fill on a major league pitching staff. He seemed like a borderline football player with bust written all over him. He used his size as a major advantage in college football but that would not have been the case in the NFL.

Samardzija chose the MLB over NFL for many reasons. In my opinion they are: 1. His heart was into baseball and not football. Although we aren't in this specific situation, it is hard to work hard towards something that you just hate. 2. He wasn't even the best WR in this draft, and football is more based on opportunity than skill. Say he was drafted by the Browns, odds are he's never going to be an elite WR because basically no1 on that team will be. However, baseball can be based strictly on your skill alone, specifically pitching. 3. Baseball contracts are guarenteed money, and you play so much longer.. so whenever he does become non arbitration eligible (if he is good enough) he is probably going to make more money from baseball to football. Whoever said that football players make more better check how many of these players actually get their whole contract, than look at Manny, AROD, Soriano, contract. 4. Football is much more work for much less money.

I think he's made a mistake. Baseball may be the National Pasttime, but Football is America's game. He's losing out on money, both in contracts and endorsements, with his decision. I'd love to see him play. The KC Chiefs could use a good WR, and I think they would have traded up to draft him.

In any event, I wish him the best of luck in Chi-town.

personally I had hoped he would have chose the NFL, but I will support him as an MLB Pitcher,I may even buy his jersey, but he would not go to the jets (which would be cool, cause i like the jets). But he would get picked earlier, maybe 6-7 pick.

Yes.

A baseball career will most likely be longer and he could make more money.
