This is a logic puzzle in 3 dimensions (although 2 dimensions are related).

The dimensions are: (staff member, shift, printout order). But shift and printout order are relatedm obviously.

You will want to make a chart that looks something like this:

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
S|      1     ||      2      ||   3    ||
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
P| 1 | 2 | 3 || 4 | 5 | 6 || 7 | 8 ||
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
A |   |    |    ||    |    |    ||    |    ||
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
B |   |    |    ||    |    |    ||    |    ||
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
C |   |    |    ||    |    |    ||    |    ||
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
D |   |    |    ||    |    |    ||    |    ||
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
E |   |    |    ||    |    |    ||    |    ||
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
F |   |    |    ||    |    |    ||    |    ||
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
G |   |    |    ||    |    |    ||    |    ||
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
H |   |    |    ||    |    |    ||    |    ||
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The S row shows the shift, and the P row shows the printout order.

Just remember that one of the guys didn't get a printout, so if he was in the first or second shift, the printout numbers will be off after him.

Also...whenever you decide that you're sure about something, you can cross out everyone else in the same row and column. That helps get to an answer MUCH faster.

Does this make sense?

There's a tutorial on how to do these here:
