It has system 7.5.5 installed, and is equipped with an ethernet card (Kingston Technology). My broadband provider is BT (Fusion). But I am a computer novice, so please provide clear and simple instructions...!

Hello Rods,

Dang! It's been ages since I've used Mac OS 7.5.5. That is so ancient, that I'm not sure how that is supposed to be done. It seems like it was done through the Apple menu. Maybe they had a connection wizard type system back then, where you simply answer the various questions that it asks you. You may need to upgrade your PowerBook to at least the 9.x OS. Sorry, that I wasn't much help to you.

Also, since you are new to computers, you should try to find a local Macintosh users group in your area. If you bought your Mac through any kind of local Macintosh dealer, they may have information about a a users group in your area.

These users groups have local experts who can help you with what ever Mac problem you may be having. Best of luck to you.
