I have used a curtain before. Cut the curtain to the length you require & make sure it has enough gather. Get a length of net curtain "tension" wire & smaller than your required width (3" less) so it will pull tight when secured & no sagging will occur.
You will also get the fixings with the wire, a couple of ones that go into the end of the wire & 2 that fix underneath your worktop.
You can then change it whenever you decide to have new blinds/cutains/colour scheme etc

I use a nice curtain myself ... something that goes with the color of you kitchen cupboards and counter tops.

Buy a Dyson machine. It's the best ever wash, and it looks so good (mine's purple!) you won't want to hide it.

Just toss a tablecloth of complementary color or design over it. A no fuss fix to the problem.
