Easy.
He started out life as a peanut farmer.
He got elected Governor of Georgia.
He got elected President of the United States.
He pardoned all of the Vietnam era draft dodgers.
He gave away the Panama Canal.
He killed vital military weapons projects needed to keep our nation safe such as the B-1 bomber program.
He killed pay raises to the military for three consecutive years.
He let unemployment skyrocket.
He let the Iranians students overrun our embassy in Tehran, take our people captive, staged an ill-conceived, ill-planned and disastrous rescue mission which the Iranians knew was coming because his cabinet leaked the information, and then sat on his hands for more than a year while our people remained captive.
He made the United States into a "paper tiger" and the laughing stock of the worldwide community.
And then, thank God, he lost the election to Ronald Reagan!
STEVE: I was 20 when all this was going on and wasn't really paying attention to mortgage rates since I was a single airman living in the barracks. But I very clearly remember the Iranians putting the hostages on a plane ONE HOUR BEFORE Reagan's inauguration because he had already told them that as soon as he was sworn in, he was "coming to get them!"
Carter may be a "fine, God-fearing man," but he was a lousy president.

B9teamchief forgot some stuff. Can you imagine a 21% APR mortgage? You could if you were around with Carter. The Iranians intimidated him until the last second, putting our hostages on a plane home as Regan was being sworn in, because Regan had promised death and destruction to Iran as soon as he took office.

The tried assassination of Pope John Paul II became set up by using the KGB, by using Bulgaria brokers applying a Turk simply by fact the murderer. If Carter were in touch, it could have been a bigger failure, which he might have blamed Ronald Reagan or Ted Kennedy.
