Chanel is an amazing brand for makeup. The stuff will last all day, and still look great. Don't take this the wrong way, but I use that stuff for theater, and I never need touch ups. She would probably get the most use out of eyeliner and eye shadow. : - )

Chanel is a high quality brand that is well worth the money. You should go to a Chanel counter a let them know that you are purchasing for your sister's birthday. They will ask you minor questions, such as: her skin type, skin tone, current makeup regime. Don't be naive and buy everything that they suggest, buy what you think is necessary. Face powder, blush, mascara, eye liner, eyeshadow, and lipgloss should be more than enough.

P.S. You will have to fish out a lot of money for this! So make your purchase wisely.

I highly reccommend Benefit, M.A.C, and Urban Decay. They can all be found at www.sephora.com or a sephora store near you and they dont test on animals!

But, the best gift would be a $50-100 gift card to Sephora. It is the makeup authority and they have a variety of high-end products there. Also, Macy's , Nordies and Victorias Secret have great beauty departments. But, I would not reccommend Chanel if you are against animal testing, because they DO test on animals such as baby rabbits and stuff.

I love Chanel Everything...

-A must is a bottle of Chanel 5 purse spray or a bottle of COCO
-A Double Perfection Compact in her skin tone(The most useful compact on earth)
-An Extracils Mascara in Noir(black)
-A Rouge Hydrabase lipstick in a color that suits her or it you arn't sure get her the Levres Multifacetts de Chanel Creme Lipstick Palette
-An Aqua Crayon Lip liner that has a tone similar to her natural lip color(this way she can use it with many diffrent lipsticks)

Depending on what your budget, buy items in this order, and remember lip liner is no good without lipstick.

I pearsonally love and use the 1st 2 items on this list almost daily, but I prefer Este Lauder for my mascara, eyeshadows, lipsticks, etc. Just better value in my opinion.

Oh gosh YES!! It IS very good make-up. Compared to the rest of the designer brand cosmetics, I find it quite pricey. As a matter of fact, was just telling my husband this morning that w/the gift cert. that he gave me for Macy's, one thing I had bought was the Chanel brand eyeliner, --even tho it is quite good, I found it to be a bit over-priced!! ($29.00!!!)
I recommend ANY other designer brand cosmetic over Chanel (like Estee' Lauder or Mac)
Mac makes GREAT eye shadows.....gorgeous long lasting colors and nice texture for your skin. Estee' Lauder makes excellent foundation, blushes, and facial powders. Any of the designers make a good eye liner.
(what ur paying for when u get the chanel eyeliner is a sharpener inc. w/product)

I am SO happy for your sister....she is lucky to have a brother like you. Chanel makeup looks as good on as it costs, and a wonderful bonus is that it smells amazing. I would suggest a lip gloss, blush, and earthy toned eye shadow, which will run about $130. Whipping out the double C's every morning will perk her right up, even if she is low profile.

Well chanel is for older people they have mostly suits and stuff and it is like a thousand times more expensive than hollister, and it isn't a brand it is just a designer but you might like juicy, splendid, james perse, vince, marc by marc jacobs, elie tahari and tori burch, look at shop intuition, shop kitson, barneys, nordstroms and saks And most design houses don't show clothes on their websites so you went to the right one

Yes, Chanel is a very good make up brand. It offers a really good selection of foundation, eye shadows, lipstick and nail polish.

Buying make up for someone else is always tricky because you have to get the colors right.

Please check www.gloss.com or www.sephora.com and consider getting your sister neutral colors that would work on anyone or a makeover or gift vouchers.

I love Chanel. I have always wanted to treat myself to a pressed powder compact. Very nice to have a great compact, as you will often whip this out in public.

Once you do settle on a product, research it first on makeupalley.com to see if the product is worth buying.

And as another mentioned, a Sephora gift card is a very lovely idea!
