x - 11 + 2 = x - 9.

Think about it: the integer numbers always come with alternate oddness: even, odd, even, odd, etc. So the next (or previous) odd number always comes 2 units ahead (or behind) an odd number. Same thing for even numbers.

Next is x-11 + 2 or x-11-2, x-9 or x-13 depending upon which way you traveled the # line.
