Hi Ms P,
The simple answer to this is anything to do with employment that is not a tort or a criminal matter it usually covers discrimination and wrongful or unfair dismissal, which are the cases the Employment Appeals Tribunals are set up to deal with.
Issues will only go to the high court on appeal on a point of law. Leave to appeal must have been granted or it is not heard.
Hope this answers the question.

The US Supreme Court can only hear cases that deal with the US Constitution, federal law, or other similar issues. Cases dealing only with state law cannot go to the Supreme Court.
So for example, cases involving employment discrimination can be heard by the Supreme Court but cases involving breach of an employment contract typically can't go to the Supreme Court

The Queens Bench Division deals with large and/or complex claims for compensation. High Court Judges often sit on appeals in the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

The 2000 Presidential election...Bush v. Gore, 531 U.S. 98 (2000), was a United States Supreme Court case heard on December 11, 2000, which determined the outcome of the 2000 Presidential election. In three separate opinions, a 7-2 majority of justices found that a ballot recount then being conducted in certain counties in the State of Florida was to be stopped due to the lack of a consistent standard. A 5-4 majority further declared in a per curiam opinion that there was insufficient time to establish standards for a new recount that would meet Florida's deadline for certifying electors.[1]
The decision stopped the recount that was occurring in Florida and allowed Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris to certify George W. Bush as the winner of Florida's electoral votes. Florida's 25 electoral votes gave Bush a majority of the electoral college with 271 votes and enabled him to win the Presidency.
