I'm half Northern and proud, no it doesn't make us common, we are more friendly and we speak properly, for instance we don't but an uneccessary "r" in bath
b-a-th not b-ar-th
and look at the chavs down south ....Jade Goody etc...etc...

I'm from the north and I do not consider myself to be common. It's only people from the south who consider themselves to be superior to people from the north. There are bucket-fulls of common southerners. Pro-rata, there are probably more common southerners than there are common northerners, but the survey is yet to be conducted. Relax, my friend. People from the south are very insecure - and with good reason. Just forgive them for their stupidity and continue to be yourself.

No I don't think it does at all. Strange though when I come out with a northern sounding phrase, my Dad who is from Sussex scoffs at me , like I'm some common peasant!
Which I'm not.
By the way, things are more expensive in the South to subsidise the north ;)

your location, your accent, your faith, your skin colour, your beliefs do not make you common.
It is the way you react to situations, the way you listen to other people when they are talking, your open mindedness, your tolerance your friendliness and your temper etc that makes you an approachable human being.
if you do not posses these qualities then it could be that other people may term you common in my opinion.

NORTHERN what???? Wherever people live they have a tendency to think their cultures, habits and values are the norm because it's their everyday way of life unless the travel and see different environments.

no, but I can spell "you're."
"You're" is a contraction of "you are."
"Your" is possessive.
"Your truck" means the truck that belongs to you; it does not mean, "you are a truck."
And if basic spelling and grammar were common, I'd be happy to be common.

More stereotyping. No it doesn't. I'm a Yorkshireman and I'm certainly not common.
