No one expects you to be Mother Theresa or Hilary Clinton, they just want to know about you . And that may be your first sentence, I've never had any life changing moments, unless you consider being born a life changing moment and then go from there. Tell them when and where you were born, what was the weather like that night. Did you come early or late ? Have you brothers or sisters, where are you in the mix, youngest, oldest, middle kid. What's the advantage of being first born, middle born, youngest? What are the disadvantages?
Where are you going to school, what grade are you in? what do you aspire to be when you get older? What do you think you'll NEVER do?
Trust me you got more than a paragraph laready just answering those questions.

Any pets? What are they , their names, their ages? Do you wish you could have a pet if you don't? What would you want?

Do you like to read? What kinds of books?

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

Good luck sweetheart and I'm sure your life is more interesting to someone else reading your personal narrative than you think it is. People always find other peopole fascinating.

Here are a few thoughts to ponder that may help you recognize a life changing experience....a life changing experience does not have to be profound....every experience you have had has affected your life in some way. Do you remember your first day of school? Have you ever changed schools? Do you have a best friend? How did you meet this person? Have you ever overheard your parents fight? Have you ever been caught in a lie? Have you ever seen someone die or attended a funeral and viewed the body? Do you remember the first time you saw an ocean? The first time you flew in an airplane? Have you ever seen a girl so pretty, she took your breath away? What book have you read or movie have you seen that made you want to be a better person? Have you ever had an injury or illness that could have been worse if not for the care you received? Have you ever had a pet die? Have you ever held a newborn baby? You are old enough to remember what you were doing on Sept. 11th,2001....how did it make you feel? If you drive....have you ever had an accident however minor? What was your most embarrassing moment? Have you ever made fun of someone and later regretted it? Keep asking yourself questions like these and soon you will discover your life has been rich with experiences....life is made of moments not years.

A personal narrative does not necessarily have to be about a life-changing experience, just a personal one. One of the best I ever read was a fairly hilarious account of a 36-hour bus trip with all the stops and bus terminals and characters involved.

Calm down. Get out a piece of paper or something to write on. Walk around, ask your family members if they remember anything that has to do with you, and look over pictures. These sources should help you think of something and make sure you jot them down as soon as you remember or else you might forget.
