my mom always used to tell me when i was little to change my underwear so i don't end up like the Germans... i always hated when she told me this because it seemed so wrong... is it even true???

It's not true, at least not as a general practice. Most likely individuals vary in how often they change their undergarments just as in any other society.
There *is* a tradition observed by some of wearing the same set of lederhosen for the entire duration of Oktoberfest, during which they may get a little ripe. However this is not common even in Bavaria.

Most Germans, especially the older ones, only shower once a week. I don't know about their underwear though. I don't take the bus on Fridays, cause everyone stinks!

My dad is German. From the amount of laundry Mum did, he changed his knickers and socks everyday.
Since I'm half-German, would folk think that I change my knickers every other day?
