i was wondering, is the word "semite" now commenly known as a word for jews? because arabs are semites also, so when you say antisemetic are you also being "anti" to arabs? but then how come some arabs are refered to as anti semetic. it seems like the word is being mis used.

It is also being misused by those who oppose criticism of the Israeli government.

Some are trying to label anyone who disagrees with Israel's policies as "anti-semetic," when in fact someone can be quite accepting of Jews and Judaism in general - not being a Zionist does not make someone an anti-Semite, but some are trying to twist the definition this way.

The word 'antisemitism' does refer to people who typically are against Jewish people and their religious beliefs.

Jews have "hijacked" that word.

For example, criticism of Israel (in any form) = cries of anti semitism.

Just try it.
