Which United do you mean?

I'm gonna assume Newcastle as Man Utd are flying and West Ham are rarely ever reffered to as 'United'. Have I missed anyone?

Anyway... Newcastle have one of the best sides in the premiership if they were all fit, the problem is the pressure that the fans put on the manager and chairman. Thankfully Freddie Shepherd is dedicated to the cause and spends extortionate amounts of money on the club with little return. Top tier manangers just don't want to go there, if they start loosing matches they will be fired, and if they don't prove themselves against the top clubs they'll be mobbed daily by angry Jordies.

This means that a squad good enough to win the Champions League with a top tier manager ends up fighting relegation with an alright (but nothing special) manager.

Injuries will always plague Newcastle because of the extreme weather... The cold means that conventional warm-ups for players will only last for half a match. Thus, 5 torn hamstrings in one season. Also the Jordies expect their players to be just as tough going into tackles as them, which means all these finely-tuned sportsmen end up getting jumped on and studded in the face as they slide **** first into the opposition players...

That was a complete waste of time if you meant a different United...

smugness

aging manager
dodgy economic foundation now they are owned by Glazer

thankfully it keep the Premiership open, although I had to laugh hearing a pundit on R5 talking about how it made the Premiership mor eopen and fairere.. what a load of rubbish.. if that was genuinely what was intended the the cash from Sky would be spread on a more equitable basis, as TV money is in the US.
