First convert 8% to decimal
remove the % sign. Divide 8 by 100
8 / 100 = 0.08
Multiply the number by the decimal
let
50 = the number
50 x 0.08 = 4
50 + 4 = 54

think of % as the number 1/100
% = 1/100 = 0.01
if the number is n then
n+8% n = n+8*0.01*n = n+0.08 n = n*(1+8*0.01) = n*(1+0.08) = 1.08*n
