Ok this is really embarassing..but does anyone use any special strong soap or am I missing something? I am a 19 year old girl and I don't have any stds or anything but even when I come out of the shower and I dry off, I smell the towel and it smells bad. I smell it right now..like that butt smell. Please can someone give me some real advice and not make fun of me? And a telling me to see a doctor won't help. I need to know if something is causing it..is it sweat smelling? Can I wear some sort of deodorant down there? Is it caused by wearing a thong? Please help! =)

Its sweat. Wipe from front to back all the way up the crack even if you don't have a bowel movement. You can also use Masingil feminine wet wipes periodically during the day in the same fashion described above. No seeing a doctor for that would be pointless. Good luck.

Thongs can actually be adding to the problem because they don't allow the area to "aerate." In any case, a butt is a butt and usually smells as such as the day goes on, but it shouldn't smell like that when you just get out of the shower. Make sure you clean yourself properly back there. Wash well with soap more than once - use a rag if necessary. Don't scrub too hard because you will irritate the skin (and the skin is already sensitive back there). When you're washing, you can run "tests" to see if you've cleaned well enough. Don't limit yourself to cleaning only the outside, a bit of inner cleaning works wonders, but of course, you don't want to go too far and you don't want to insert any soap into your body. Once you get out of the shower, dry well, but again, don't rub too hard because you will irritate the skin. Be sure to moisturize gently to take care of the skin and you may want to sprinkle with a bit of powder (like shower to shower). Finally, try to wear cotton underwear as much as possible. This is the best type of underwear for your skin because it allows you to breathe.

Oh my, try some colon cleansing. Look up foods that you can eat that will help. Try an enema. And use adult sized toliet wipes. Charmin flushable wipes are good. Good luck!

It might be because you are not wiping yourself properly. You should wipe from front to back. You might consider getting baby wipes. They are gentle and do a better job of cleaning than toilet paper.

I totally agree w/Sydney, you should wash thoroughly and cut down on the thongs.

Wow, this is a truly lady like attractive question.

It could be the thong, or you could have a yeast or another infection. That would be the most logical answer.

Wear a different type of under ware for a week or two and see what happens. You could be allergic to the fabric.

Get an Iodine douche and use a couple this week and see if it might happen.

Wash thoroughly, rinse thoroughly, use a fresh towel after every bathing and stop smelling it. Perfumes or scents in that area are not recommended as they can cause problems.

On this site a girl recently mentioned something similar to this problem, and she had discovered that she was allergic to her laundry detergent (liquid tide). Check that out. Good Luck.
