The surest path to world peace would be for each individual on this planet to achieve inner personal peace first. I just finished reading a book that hits home this very topic. It's called "Heaven On Earth" by Stephen D'Amico. You see, it all begins within each person's heart and mind. Happy, aware, enlightened people have discovered personal fulfillment. When you are in this state, you don't need to harm or strike out at others. Wars and conflicts are caused by inner angst, greed, jealousies, and all other negative human emotions. If every person would get their own business figured out, they'd have no need to want to pull down or destroy others. We all want something but there are fair ways to get it and there are bad, deceitful ways to get it and very dangerous fatal ways, to achieve the same goal. But the bottom line is personal happiness and fulfillment. Happy people don't have a need or would even want to have to hurt another to get what they want. It's called having a code of ethics. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. You live by the sword, you'll die by the sword! It's everyone's personal choice. But the majority of earth's peoples, are mistaken in their choices of blaming others for their own problems. It all starts within. Take care of you and your heart, and you'll have a clearer view of the world with less interference from base, destructive emotions that will continue to exist till your own inner personal conflicts are resolved. You can use this point when dealing with people: If they lash out at you, or call you names or any other negative behavior, you can be sure without a doubt, that this outer behavior reflects back to what they truly feel about themselves. A jealous girl acts out of insecurity and lack of self-confidence. A rude, inconsiderate person is actually telling you that they have no self-respect either. It's a cover for their own self-hate. Any outside expression is a clue as to where it came, from within. Bossy personalities are just telling everyone they have inner frustrations with themselves, so it makes them feel better to pick on someone else, rather than look inside and fix their own problems. Stephen's book hits the nail right on the head! And I'm following his lead for sure!

I agree but world peace could also happen if everyone would just embrace the fact that people aren't always going to agree with them and say thats ok you are entitled to your opinion lets go get a beer. But that will never happen because most humans are to pig headed to listen instead of arguing all the time. Good idea man.

You're absolutely right. Humans have always fought each other for all the reasons they could think of. But if there would be no humans to be the "evolved ones" on this earth, some miracle would happen and there would be some other race of creatures who would evolve our capabilities and fight each other too. Or maybe not... see? I'm fighting with myself now! It's in our blood! :)

I don't know what percentage exactly of the world is at peace (no war), but my guess is that it is in the high 90 percentile range.
The vast majority of people today are not at war. Yes, there are differences of opinions throughout humanity, but this is often a good thing.

yes, but without humans there would be no one to record the peace, or call it peace to begin with...and the other critters are not all that peaceful by nature...cats stalk and hunt and kill, birds have territorial issues and fights (to the death sometimes), so do fish and insects...i think man ought to get over his arrogant and cheap self and decide that we are really no better than the other creatures on this planet, or begin to act like we have some sense.
(fat chance, on either count)

Very true. World peace is a warm, happy, beautiful dream but it is highly unlikely. It's kind of a shame, but I don't think the entire human race is capable of living in complete mutual respect for one another.

I agree. Man is by nature argumentative and arguments have a habit of escalating.
