Canadians and Americans share many cultural similarities such as music, film, television, and other forms of entertainment. They also share many beliefs on how society should be run, however, they do not necessarily use identical means to achieve their goals.

Canadians embrace and encourage multiculturalism to a greater degree than their southern counterparts. This is mainly due to their views on immigration as well as Canada having two official languages.

On average, Americans are:
- socially: more conservative,
- politically: more right-wing,
than the majority of Canadians. But still, they are not worlds apart in either respect.

Which accent? There are many. Someone from BC or Alberta will sound different than someone from Quebec. Put a Newfie and an Acadian in the same rootm, and they may have trouble understanding each other. The same holds true in USA...I can be in a room with people from Boston, Dallas, New Orleans, and Seattle and all of them will have their own unique accent from around the country. That's part of what I like about our two countries. We all are a bit different, but we have common bonds. I can tell you that the spelling of words are different in Canada than in USA. Some examples from Canada include the adding of a "u" in words like "behaviour", "flavour", and "honour". But the words still sound the same. One thing I do know is different is the letter Z. Some Canadians pronounce it "zed" and others say "zee" like the Americans do. We use that so it does not sound so much like the letter C when it is spoken, as in "zed-six-jay-four" so someone writes Z6J4 instead of C6J4 for a part number that was ordered by phone.

If you saw an American and a Canadian together, you could identify the American by the following
1) Spoke too loudly
2) Said Abu Dhabi was in Hawaai.
3) thought could buy the Taj mahal from Walmart.
4) Acts like he owned the place.
5) darts his eyes around looking for the Tax man or Ossam bin Laden.

You could identify the Canadianas the one who,
1) keeps apologizing for everything.
2) never missed giving a loony to that bum pan handler.
3) Smiled a lot.
4) pronounced the "d" from words like This That etc with a "Z"as in Zis , Zat etc. (Probably comes from Montreal)
5) Wore his clothes neatly.

Canadians are viewed as peaceful people (internationally)
while Americans are viewed as war mongers.

Canadians are not Fat... Americans have the fattest population

Canadians are not hateful ( look at our history).. Americans are hateful and there are tons of racial tension there.

(These are all generalizations of course as it doesn't apply to each an every single American or Canadian)

Canadians are more polite. For instance, if they are mad at you they will express it as a possibility instead of a statement of fact; an angry American might say "*@#$ you!!" where a Canadian might say "Buzz off, eh?"
