Definitely get to the Dr to be sure...nothing can be more heartbreaking that thinking you are pregnant and then discovering it was a false result. However, speaking from my own personal experience I have found these over the counter tests to be very accurate. Good luck!

Sounds like it are. Congratulations - If you want to make sure that you are pregnant, the product should have a 1-800 number and you can ask customer support how accurate the First Response test is. If you missed your period more than a week and are not over 35 you are not experience pre menopause so I would think that setting up an appointment with your gynecologist would be the next step so that you can start with your prenatal care. You should get a check up anyway by your gynecologists early on so that he can tell you the do's and don't during pregnancy especially if this is your first. Good Luck.

I would say YES, you are pregnant.
The test checks for a hormone found during pregnancy and reacts (produces color) if present. If you are concerned about false positives, take another test first thing in the morning.
P.S.
Congratulations!!!!

It would be pretty RARE for a false POSITIVE on a pregnancy test but if your not sure do another test.

That sounds like good news to me, was it one of the new digital pregnancy tests? The most accurate is a blood test from the doctor's office but for now I think you can celebrate early.
Congrats early.

There is no such thing as a false positive
you ARE pregnant. It has detected it in your body
Why did you wait until January 20th to take a test if your period missed in December? Just wondering

congratulations!!!!!!!!! the test can give you a false neg not a false positive. the hormone that is released during pregnancy is what the test is testing. the only other time that hormone is released is when you have what they call a mole pregnancy which a sort of cancer....

It is rare to get a false positive but I would go to a clinic and get a blood test done.

False Positives are not unusual. Get a "real test" from the health clinic or a Doctor.
