I have been in the apartment industry for years, (with the same company). Recently we switched from Whirlpool to GE. We have had nothing but problems with these refrigerators. I recommend Whirlpool to all of my residents who are building new houses and ask this same question.
Also, all new products weather GE or whirlpool are now offering only a one year warranty on the entire product. As previously they had a five year on the compressor.
Good luck.
Some reports say yes on energy efficiency and others say the reports are not accurate but I would go ahead and buy it anyway. it's something you plan on owning for a long time soif it is accurate, then you have done well!

it all depends on what you willing to spend. sub zero is most likely the best but you will pay for the quality. for the money go with whirlpool. avoid the top of the line with all the whistles and bell and stay away from the bottom of the line since everyone likes ice makers.

The absolute best brand is "sub-zero", best warranty, follow up service, and construction. The down side is that they start in the thousands.
