Dwarf Cichlids and Angelfish certainly share the same rivers in the Amazon Basin. However they share vastly different parts of the Ecosystem. The Dwarf Cichlid live in the leaf litter on the edges of the side coves and sort of secluded spots where the larger more predatory fish have difficulty moving. The Angelfish stay closer to the main channels and rely on what fishermen call "structure"(stumps, fallen trees, or rocky areas) for protection from predatory critters. So I think the fish would be OK if the tank is large enough, and tall enough,(29 gallon minimum). Some tall plants would help the Angels feel secure, and lots of "rocky, cavey, sort s of hiding places on the bottom of the tank will make the D.C.'s feel snuggy. Of course the water should be fairly soft, and the pH should be 7.0 or less,6.5 would be very good. Still it's better not to mess with the pH too much if it's close to 7.0 just let the fish get accustomed to it.The pH isn't that important unless you want to breed the fish. Hope this is some help.-------PeeTee

I wouldn't recommend it. Chiclids with other chiclids are aggressive, but if they are put into a small tank with other fish, there could be a lot of aggression. Angel fish are not docile, they are actually semi-aggressive. However they are totally different kinds of fish. Neither are peaceful community fish. By accident I put an aggressive fish with a community fish and the aggressive one chased the other fish constatly, nipped at his fins, and eventually the community fish jumped from the tank. In conclusion, keep them seperate.
