The Boy Scouts have a coed program called Venturing or Venture Scouting for interested young adults between the ages of 14 and 20. Venturing often focuses on more mature activities, from career searching and development to the highly popular high adventure programs.
Some common and popular high adventure activities for Venturers include Backpacking, daypacking, skiing, whitewater, boating/sailing, camping, climbing, and a lot more. Many facilities and tour groups offer discounts to Scouting and other nonprofit groups.
Venturing includes similar rank and advancement programs as boy scouting, but I've found that how much it is included in an individual crew's program varies widely and is largely up to the participants. Some crews focus on advancement and development as much as some Boy Scout troops, while others focus almost entirely on outings and high adventure activities. You can shop around the local units of your area to find a fit that's best for you, or you can start your own if you think there is enough interest.
A guy or girl in the Venturing program also has the same opportunities to attend Boy Scout camps and facilities, including national High-Adventure sites such as Philmont Scout Reserve, Florida SeaBase, and Northern Tier.
I've activated email on my answers account, feel free to send me a message if you need help contacting a local council or have any other questions.

I am a girl scout leader for my daugher's troop and I am a merit badge counselor for my son's boy scout troop. Both girl scouts and boy scouts go hiking, camping, and earn badges (and much more including service projects, fundraisers, etc) Just ask the girl scout leader before you join what camping and hiking events they have planned. If it's not good enough, then check another troop or offer to start your own girl scout troop.
And there is always 'venturing' in the boy scout organization which is for older teens, both boy and girls allowed. Good luck!

There is a co-ed program called Venturing for young men and women aged 14-20. It offers advancement, outdoor activities, leadership training and many other activities. While it isn't Boy Scouts many parents of girls say it is a good program when their girls feel like they have "outgrown" girl scouts.

i'm an Eagle Scout. I wrote to the national workplace of the BSA to particular my displeasure concerning to the discriminatory rules in the direction of people who do no longer fit into prepared faith besides as homosexuals. The BSA is somewhat like the protection rigidity and its "do no longer Ask, do no longer tell" coverage. From the attitude of a civil libertarian lawyer, I even have in no way been in a position to abdomen discrimination, possibly because of the fact i grow to be the sufferer of bullies and slanderers my finished existence ~ and that i'm heterosexual. because of the fact of this I choose wild animals to human beings. I did maximum of my benefit badge activities on my own and did no longer fit-in at based Scout camps. I had extra relaxing and extra heterosexual oportunites with the Luther League adolescents at my church besides as camping out journeys with Sierra club. Now, I hike and camp on my own contained in the desert. In my place of work, homosexuals and atheists are the two managers and rank-and-document workers ~ no harassment is tolerated between the countless faiths, nationalities, or sexual thoughts, even nevertheless we've healthful arguments. BSA, as a private employer, has the remarkable to maintain its discriminatory rules. BSA grow to be in basic terms approximately opened-up during the 1970's or maybe pronounced intercourse contained in the Boy Scout coaching manual. It finally admitted what too many adults deny: little ones are sexual beings, no rely if heterosexual or gay, and likewise have philosophical ideals which won't comply with orthodoxy of the formal religions. No classic American Indian can belong to the BSA. The conservative flow following the final enlightenment rubbed-out any experience of right and incorrect contained in the BSA. by way of the data of increasing concentration of wealth and company greed contained in america, conservatives have additionally destroyed the authentic morality of our united states of america besides.

well you can't technically but you could organize your own girl scout troop and follow boy scout requirements, you couldn't give them rank patches but you could still do the other stuff and buy merit badges... maybe you could make your own rank patches or something
