I have just watched some TV and saw some shocking brutal child abuse in the form of religious fanaticism. It is all caught on video and you can see it at

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCODIhAXbQM

I am afraid for the children and I am thinking of going to police to get permission to get these children away from this crazy woman.

What I would like to know is whether legally this woman's behavior is classified as child abuse.

Although it seems obvious that the answer is Yes, most courts are unwilling to cross that line and call it "abuse". This is due to the court's fear of repercussions stemming from "freedom of religion", which was promised to citizens by the Constitution. However, I am aware of a few cases where it was ruled child abuse, not because of the fanaticism, but because of physical abuse and neglect to the child, such as locking children in closets and not letting them out until they pray, etc.

Honey, that's nuts, but it's not abuse.
Sorry.
She would have to actually hit her kids, and brainwash them that the aliens are coming for them,
and not let them out of the house.
Now, if she gets anfgry like that over one of them not getting the rice cooked on time, then it's abuse.
You get it?
PS Did you see te way the older girl seemed really patient and loving? Did you see the way the family seemed alittle taken aback, but pretty calm? They care for her, they're not screaming back, they're not crying...
the eldest even was able to ask "Why are you mad at us?" This is a family that can be very direct about emotions, so I doubt this is abusive!

YouTube? Come on now. That's just silly.

But yes - I do think teaching religion to children is wrong.

It doesn't matter what you or I think, it matters what a judge or Family Services member thinks
