I'm a banger driver (for those who don't know what that is check out http://www.wartononline.com/ ) I've been offered 5 different US Cars for a big meeting. Need to know pros & cons of them (for example strength & speed!) The models are: Buick Roadmaster, Lincoln Continental, Cadillac Fleetwood (Limo), Cadillac Seville & finally a Chevrolet Caprice estate. I'm good at sorting UK models out but these are a whole new breed, all help appreciated. Oh and I don't need any car preservationists telling me I should be restoring them or I'll be sending them pics of the rare cars I've raced in the past ;) Thanks

Riddler, the car is gonna be stripped to a shell, all glass removed and rad cage welded in the back! Not such a stately entrance lol. Check out the weblink for the pics. Thanks though :)

Have seen a Lincoln raced before, only lasted one heat, and was only hit front left fairly gently (for banger racing anyway lol). Dunno what's behind that wing but was terminal damage! Ideally car has to last for 6 heats, and then destruction derby where I don't care lol!

Just a point - our racing slightly different from Demolition Derbies you have over there. We have (where I race) 4 heats, 10 laps a heat where it is actually a race but if no gap you make one ;) then a final over 15 laps (same rules) and finally a destruction derby for those who want to kill off their cars (anything goes except drivers door). So also need a bit of handling. This meeting is special though as everyone will be in heavy cars (ie American or Jaguar Hearses etc).

"Demolition derby" is what we call it here. The Ford -Lincoln would be the best bet IMO you got the HP and it is built like a truck, as the Fords out here are the general winners.

Stay away from the Fleetwood.... however, the Seville, Lincoln and the Caprice are all solid vehicles. Buick might be ok, but the other cars a much heavier by design, mostly in the engine block.

The Roadmaster and Caprice are going to be identical mechanically. The Fleetwood is somewhat related. I would pick one of these three, and the choice would depend on the mechanical condition.

If the Continental is a '90s or later model, it will be a front wheel drive thing based loosely on the Ford Taurus. That would not be my first choice. Neither would the Seville - it's also front wheel drive, probably powered by one of Cadillac's less reliable engines.

I take it you want to make a stately impression. Go with the Cadillac Seville. Smooth ride, has a presense, comfotable interior, roomy trunk for you luggage, Probably has Onstar navigation assistance. Granted it's larger than European models, but it handles well. I really think you'll like it.

I'd go with the Lincoln 1st and Cadillac Seville 2nd. Parts availability is best and limo and wagon don't have as good traction as they are.
