Depends on the society and how well a person adheres to the beliefs of that society. There are a lot of cultures that have some form of polygamy or no marriage at all. Other cultures encourage monogamy and even then some people choose to "cheat" on their spouses.

The great thing about Human Beings is we have the power to determine for ourselves whether we are or are not. It is completely up to us as individuals.
Look at nature, some species are monogamous and some are not. Its in their biological programming.
Leaving one partner for a sexual escapade may be tempting at times for some - or perhaps many. But the choice is there. We do not have to hand over our autonomy to our urges. We can remain in charge of our biology.
Any one who tells you that people can't help it are selling you something. Unless you have a mental disease of some kind, you can always choose to be monogamous or not.

They all should be monogamous -- but sadly that isn't the case.
Some are and some are not. I'm glad to say that I can be when I have a boyfriend or husband. I'm single at the moment.

No, human beings are not monogamous.
Society and jealousy is what makes us monogamous.

No. We are polygamous species. We have intellegence and know that practically speaking, monogamy is best for security and raising children but our instinct is to play around sexually.
Humans are cursed with the constant war of intellect vs. instinct.
