Try a different mouse. It doesn't hurt to have a spare. If a different mouse fixes it, then it is the mouse. If not, try reinstalling the drivers, or in the worst case scenario, the operating system.
I once upgraded from Win 95 to Win 98 SE, and the mouse would sometimes move and click at random as it was doing before the upgrade. I eventually did a clean install of Windows for another reason, and the mouse no longer acted up. So there was a corrupt file that did not get overwritten during the upgrade.
Since you are using an optical mouse, you should check to see that you are using an appropriate mouse pad. Some have recommended getting mouse pads intended for optical mice. Failing that, just use a surface that is random and texturized. That way the CCD can detect a difference. If the mouse pad is slick, solid in color, or reflective, the cursor won't move well. I've used jeans and even a cloth-bound hymnal with optical mice with no problem before.

well i used it for a long time and its damaged. So like i had this problems too with it . When i was on internet explorer it started going everywhere and clicked everything and when i clicked something it wasnt like a one click it was a two click so stuff like this . The thing you should do is tu buy a new one . Its not much i am a school boy and i can buy it from my pocket money and it doesnt have to be an ultimate generation but not a piece of **** too , for example my mouse name is "dana computer" from dana byte and it works fine but then again i click too much on it and soon it will damage . the thing you can do is buy a new one or look on the internet search. try to type problmes with the mouse and then go search or stuff like this but it would be good if you would buy a new one!oh..
It doesnt have to be an ultimate generation but you could buy a good one so like dont be so cheap on it OK? well good luck!

Maybe you can buy a new one. Is probably the mouse though. I have a wireless mouse and when it starts doing that is just that it needs new batteries etc....

This is a problem related to many optical mice. I've had the same problems in the past and there is just no way around it. It tends to hit a virtual ceiling of sorts and won't go past it. It's in the physics of the mouse software itself. It won't change. Best bet is to consider another alternative.

It appears like there would properly be some digital interference close for your computing gadget. i have had cordless phones and cell phones impression my prompt mouse. If that is a stressed mouse, you would attempt replacing some settings interior the administration panel.

Try to use a mouse pad with only one color on it and also be sure that the batteries are good (if you are using batteries for the mouse use rechargeable batteries).
