Dramaqueenicus upstagicus elaboratorium.
Heh heh... that was cool...
But seriously. It is usually a sign of manic, BPD or Bi Polar behavior as both conditions kind of depend on their "episodes" as excuses for their behavior.
People with these conditions are usually raised in an enviornment that is confusing and contradictory in that one or both of their parents are usually one or the other. Ill or an enabler... Mixed signals, contradictory punishment, highs and lows... It is an addictive behavior on even a primal level as the weaker always follows the stronger personality. Even if Dogs and cats... A perfectly healthy dog will always follow the neurotic episodes of an unhealthy one. Same kind of thing happens with the children of mentally ill people if they don't understand their disorder or get help for it. Effected people really do tend to consume all those around them and drag people into their drama.
Watch children on the playground in a school yard some day, just sit back and watch as the dominant ones with what can be considered antisocial or aggressive behavior always drag the good kids into their drama. A bad kid can laways bring dow a good one but it is a lot less likely that a good child will ever influence or change the behavior of an already bad one.

That's more than one question and deserves a long examination and hence discussion. Many disorders exhibit this behavior.I'll just use the term dramatic (as in drama queen but not a clinical term). I would think the term would vary slightly depending on the disorder and how extreme it the symptom represents itself. Narcissism, of course, is not bipolar but both can get quite dramatic. The reasons behind the drama is driven by different mechanisms. In some cases it may be more an angst ridden internal drama, in others more external, control freakish and domineering. Borderline personality' tends to be quite high-anxiety' driven. Then when you throw the teen angle that makes the disorders themselves operational on a unique level. Actually, come to think of it, "high anxiety" may(not sure) be an old clinical term. I do know it's the title of a good Mel Brooks comedy. You might want to check it out as some comic relief while doing you paper.

It is a direct result of parenting.
Look to all the current knowledge of parenting.
Parent's set guidelines and goals for their teenage off spring, However , they must still go forward on their own path.
This could manifest itself on the onset of this type of behaviour, as you describe. Anger and resentment are the foremost response to this stimuli.Looking for any way to absolve the difficeices in their personal Identity could lead to promisciious behavior and may be an indicator of future behavioural conduct. Does it add to the life experience? Whom among us knows?
If there was ever a name for this I would say 'Hedonism'.
A pervasive pursuit of self-interest.

I read a book some years back but alas, i cannot remember the author but the name of the book was Irregular People. If you can locate the book it might help you. I know i saw my mother in every word in that book. Domineering, self-absorbed, and always had to win. Would create turmoil where none was before.

Neurotics.
People who are psychotic are so out of touch with reality that they really aren't able to connect their hallucinations, etc., to "drama".
