You simply go up to the counter & ask to schedule a make-up application date. The process may be a bit long due to other folks coming up the counter & the shortness of staff, so allot at least an hour for this portion of your prom day. It is very much worth it if you don't really know much about make-up application, and you need your make-up to last through the many pictures, the dinner, the grand march & the dance (perhaps after parties as well). It is extremely sanitary, the tech will use disposable mascara brushes, lip liners, lipstick appliers, etc. I always went to Clinque for my proms, & I was never disappointed. Good luck!!

Most mall counters will do a full prom makeover with an appointment. Go to your local mall and check out the counters and see which has makeup that may appeal to you. Do it early though, some of the more popular counters can be booked solid months in advance, so do not wait until the last minute. Most of them will expect you to purchase something, usually the standard is 3 products. They don't necessarily have to be the products they use in the makeover, but you need to make a minimum purchase to make it worth the artist's time. Ask what the purchase requirement is when you make your appointment. Bring in a swatch of your dress material so that the artist can have an idea of your colors. If you book over the phone the makeup artist should book a time for you to come in for a test run or consultation. This is so that they can pull colors for you in advance to make sure you are satisfied with the colors they will be using. The most important thing however, is don't wait until last minute. I made that mistake with my sister and the counter she wanted to go to was booked up in January.

I am a makeup artist for estee lauder in the mall. Usually how it works is you can call the counter 1 or 2 days before u need te makeover and you explain that u need your make up done. The service is actually free but the deffinately want you to buy atleast 2 items, if you wanna go cheap about it usually a lipgloss and powder would do it. Most counters are definately clean we have inspections and sanitary tests. basically it will take about an hour for a full face of skin care and color. Its alot more fun if u can get a friend to get her make up done with you. Have fun at prom sweety!

You call the makeup counter of choice and set up an appointment (day & time) you want to get your makeup done. The process is really exciting because you get to try something new and be adventurous with the makeup and learn new techniques you weren't aware of before. There is usually a minimum $30 purchase which includes the makeover. Yes, it's very sanitary because they clean the brushes after use, they have to by law.
In my experience M.A.C. and Bobbi Brown have excellent lines but it really comes down to the artist. I suggest you take a trip to the mall and survey the counters for which artists have the best makeup as well as look at their range of colors for skin, lips and eyes..then make your decision.
To get ready for the appointment, have a general idea of what look you would like to go for or leave it to the makeup artists discretion. For example..glam, natural, etc.

Call up in advance, and make an appointment at your nearest Este Lauder counter for a makeup consultation. They always have the best makeup artists, do the full face, always use brand new applicators, all brushes are sanitised between customers, and their products are amazing and last forever. But be sure to buy about 40-50$ worth of stuff, otherwise its considered rude(but this isn't required). You must buy a mascara, lip pencil, and lipstick so you can touch up your makeup. Their products last forever. The lip pencils with the lipstick brush on the other end are an amazingly good buy. you get an extra refill inside, and if you want another color, you can just buy the refill version(cheap, and comes with 2) and insert it onto the side where the lipstick brush is. Makeup done at a salon properly will be more expensive and you won't have any thing but your face to show for it. It always is good to bring your dress with you to help the artist decide what eyeshadow, lipstick to use etc. Day spas and full service salons are convenient but will end up costing way more than searching for the best deals. Like exclusively nail salons are always running specials in the paper, junk mail, and even on the back of your grocery receipts...So do hair salons...just make sure you get your nails done the day before, so you can concentrate on your hair and makeup.
PS have your eyebrows waxed the week before your event, so the makeup artist has a clean canvas to work with. Good Luck!
plus Este Lauder is one of the best counters for freebies along with purchase(not counting the displayed kind). Ive gotten many a mini mascara, full sized lipsticks, mini eye shadows, makeup brushes, a bundle of mini perfume sprays(and every combination in between) just because the lady at the counter liked me...fun fun fun!

You can call the store ahead of time and scheduel an appointment, but if you walk in any store at the mall, and practically any given time, there are always people just sitting there. But remember, not all of them know anything about applying makeup, they are sales reps. Sanitary? I don't think so. They use a new applicator with each customer, but they apply the makeup from the same tray to everyone. Then there's the idea of having to choose which product brand you want before you have it done, so you know which counter to go to.
Of course, in the end, you still have to have your nails done, your pedicure, your hair styled...so my advice would be to go to a one stop center....go to a nice salon or salon/spa and get it all done in one place, but remember to schedule way in advance...sometimes the salons are full 2 months in advance.

Maybe you should try contacting your local Mary Kay cosmetics representative. She could probably help you out. You might even be able to host a pre-prom makeover party for your friends, which would give you the opportunity to earn some free makeup if anyone makes a purchase.

Go to a salon. The mall counters want to sell you makeup and a lot of times they do half so you see before/after.

I would suggest you apply some light make up by yourself.
Your too pretty to need any kind of professional make up.
Also save yourself some money, Go to the prom and enjoy yourself watching other girls desperately fighting to keep their make up from getting ruined.
Just dont bother so much about looks, eventually hardly anyone ever goes to notice. The girls would be too busy preening, competing with others and preventing others from spoiling their own make up. They wont percieve you as a threat and treat you better if your not competing with them.
Boys frankly dont care so much, the ones that do are hardly worth your attention anyway.
Have a great time at the Prom,
Cheers!

Hmmm....properly i recognize that in case you in user-friendly words bypass to the mall, they are going to attempt a collection of makeup on you for free, cuz then you surely finally end up paying for the products. yet i'm no longer effective about promenade makeup...you'll likely ought to pay. about $one hundred? no longer effective although...
