If you are in love you will be in no doubt about it. From experience i can tell you that there are 2 stages. the first is a head over heels feeling of "i now feel complete / we are one". this lasts different lengths of time for different people but is always transient. Its known psychologically as a blurring of ego boundaries. sooner or later the boundaries snap back and the two people rediscover their individuality again. then comes the test of whether the couple have developed enough honesty, trust and respect for each other as they really are (rather than hope they are) to buiild the kind of meaningful and lasting love that is so much deeper than stage 1. some couples manage it, others dont. good luck. its stage 2 that really matters.
