Is Brussels a good place to visit cos I have heard mixed reviews? How cheap is it? Drinking Age? Things to do? Safe? Transport? Places to avoid? Days Trips? Places to stay? Any info would be great thanks!

I don't know why everyone says there's nothing to do there, they have a wonderful art museum, the Grote Markt, and some nice shops. Plus, being a small country, going to Antwerp is an easy trip. It is expensive, but then again, so is any major Western European Country. I found a 4 star hotel in Antwerp for 60 USD a night on hotels.com, right in the center.

Brussels may be the capital of Belgium and could be the principal seat of the Belgian Royal Family and, also the capital of the European Union and if you want to know it then this is actually the place hotelbye . Brussels is an incredibly small, easy-going, and human-sized city for many their importance. Unlike anthers city making use of their millions of tourists, Brussels is Belgium's main financial and instructional hub, which provides the town an even more workaday feel than other towns. Here, in Brussels, if you'd decide to see, you will get a correct experience for Belgian living, specially its great restaurant and café culture. Although Brussels may not have the celebrity attractions of other Belgian neighborhoods, the capital has more than enough to help keep guests occupied for a day or two with a clutch of world-class museums and artwork galleries, in addition to quirkier sights like the Atomium, and some wonderful remnants of previous architecture in the previous city quarter.

Brussels is pretty spendy. Other than visiting the European Union, I can't think of anything Brussels has that Bruges hasn't. So I'd go to Bruges. It is so much prettier, there are fabulous restaurants, the town is utterly walkable, there is no place you have to avoid, there are a million great bed and breakfasts, (Try the Royal Stuart- Maggie is a great hostess!) and THE CHOCOLATE MUSEUM is there. You will get more for your money and have a better time.
Oh, yes, you asked about Belgium's drinking age. No minimum age to drink in private. No age restrictions on beer and wine in shops. To drink in an establishment you must be 16. Did I mention Bruges has Brewery De Halve Maan? This family run business has been brewing beer here since 1856 but the brewery itself can be traced back to 1564 as mentioned in the city archives. Don't forget to check out Brewery De Gouden Boom - The Brewery Museum. They take beer seriously!

I went to brussels on eurostar which was quite quick. I went for a day and got to see quite a lot.
I took the underground which is easy to use to the central station and then took a sightseeing bus.
You have to go an see the manakin pis which is quite funny and go up the atom which is the belgium version of the eiffel tower. They also have like a lego park near the atom with the seven wonders of the work, and finally there is a really nice ice cream shop near the manin square.
You will have a nice time but there is not a great deal to do compared to other cities

It's interesting if you are passing through, - the grote markt or old market is quite historic - but it really doesn't have a proper centre like alot of european cities, is spaced out, and i wouldn't recommend it for a long stay - just an interesting weekend. There's not much to do. It is the administrative head of Europe, so it has a businesslike, sterile air.
