First, multiply the denominator of the mixed number by the whole number. Then, you add the number that you got to the numerator. The number that you got is the numerator and the denominator is the original one. Here, I'll give you some examples in case you didn't understand that.

1. 3¾
2. 1½
3. 2¼

1. Multiply 4x3 and you get 12. Add 3 to 12 and you get 15. 15 will be the numerator and 4 will be the denominator. The answer is 15/4.

2. Multiply 1x2 and you get 2. Now add 2+1 and you get 3. 3 will be the numerator and 2 will be the denominator. The answer is 3/2.

3. Multiply 4x2 and you get 8. Now add 8+1 and you get 9. 9 is the numerator and 4 will be the denominator. The answer is 9/4.
