I have just gotten a provisional patent for a child safety device, and am about to contact several manufacturers. Any advice about how to appropriately pitch my product?

~Trials/run-thru's!
Get your family to watch your pitch - (do it exactly as you plan to do it infront of the manufacturers.) Tell them to be completely honest with their opinions as to how you did; how you spoke, how they felt about what you said, how they felt when you were speaking... (bored? involved? lost? excited?...) Ask if you delivered the idea fully, correctly, clearly...
Listen with an OPEN mind to their suggestions and make the improvements needed.
Then, after you feel comfortable with the outcome, move on and do the same infront of a group of friends, church members and/or co-workers...
Then move on to a group of youths and their parents so you can see how this product is going to appeal to them - (since they are your market).
This is an important step for many reasons: The manufacturers want to know & SEE that you have already done your homework... they want to see some "field results" in your presentation... they want to see that you have a great deal of confidence (confidence that has been built from these trial pitches) in your product; (and your confidence in this product could very well be the "thing" that finally sells them...)

I hope it all works out wonderfully for you!!
