if you're going full-time (at least 12 credits per semester) and 2 semesters per academic year, the average is 4 years.

Most people do it in four years. Since some people take longer -- the average is greater than four years.
If you look at US News & World Report's annual rankings of universities, it will give you a percentage for each school that indicates how many people finish in four years. Very few students take more than four years at private universities. At public universities, more students take time off to work -- so the percentage is longer.

It should take four but more and more we are seeing students in for the long run: 4.5 to 6 to even 7 years. Most work part-time; others have changed majors midway in their studies.
My suggestion: Pick a major you ENJOY and are really into. Don't pick a course of study that you hate, that is not really you, that others want you to do, etc. Get done in FOUR years and be over with it. The vast majority of college grads who don't have the jobs they want right to this day DID NOT go into a course of study they enjoyed and now they are paying for it. Parents, are you reading my answer to this question?

It's supposed to be four. But that's only if you overload yourself with classes and don't fail a thing.
Most students I've talked to, it takes about 3yrs to get their AA (the two year degree, half way to bachelors). So it might take 5 years realisitcally for the average student (a bit slow) to complete it.

3-6 years depending on what type of load you take on. I knew a girl who did 21 units each semester and graduated in 3 years.

The usual is 12 credits a semester, and to acheive the usual standard of 124 credits to graduate, it takes about eight semesters (four years).
But the max amounts of credits you can take is usually 18, so you can probably do it more quickly if you wanted to.

Well, 4 years if you buckle down and attend a traditional university.
Nowadays people attend college part time so much, it depends on your situation.
If I keep dicking around on yahoo answers, it might take me 8 years to get my bachelors degree, I'm outtie!
