Freedom of speech involves public communications and government regulation of it. Yahoo is a private entity and they can make any rules and do anything they want with their system.

If you don't like it, try Craigslist. Geez what has happened to our educational system?

Y! decided to pull the discussion boards probably because just a few idiots would CONSTANTLY post on one topic and end up taking that waayyyy off topic and spew all sorts of vile insults at other Y! members. There always seems to be a ton of people who do nothing but sit around and launch insults at each other thru those message boards. Good riddance. It's not like you can go through 500 pages of messages anyway.

And no, our Free Speech isn't being violated...we're free to speak here (thanks Yahoo!!). The decision to close the Y! message boards rests entirely with Yahoo.

are you being stopped from discussing any issue by yahoo? or are you only being stopped from you using yahoo to express your views.

With the advent of BLOGS where you can go and make any kind of statements, even set up your own BLOG to express your views. In my mind it is pretty clear that your rights are not being infringed upon because they stopped all discussion boards.

If I were to have to answer this in a court I would simply say that there is the question and answer part of Yahoo where you can express your views. Because of the amount of system space the discussion boards were taking up on the system, and the response to the Q&A seems to be a better use of our customer service at the time to use the Discussion boards storage space for the Q&A part of our resources.

by way of fact Yahoo did no longer be taught from different internet flash-in-the-pans like Hotbot and Webcrawler. Yahoo had a kickass site visitors circulate on their dialogue boards that placed a lot of advertisements in front of a lot of eyes. Niel Budde extremely screwed the pooch with this option. i ask your self how lots advert revenues Yahoo lost interior the previous couple of days by way of fact the boards have been offline. Now i'm off to different internet portals that cater to their purchasers.

No, it doesn't violate your freedom of speech at all. Infact, by using this web site you consent to the terms and conditions set forth by Yahoo!. That includes outright censorship. If you don't like it, don't use the site. You have many other ways of expressing yourself on the web.

Yahoo doesnt have to allow you or anyone else to post to THEIR discussion boards. If you want to exercise your right of Freedom of Speech, make your own wensite, pay for it like the rest of the world and make your own discussion board and discuss whatever you want. I promise you that Yahoo is not the seat of your inability to exercise your rights!

Obviously they feel they have the right to edit content they do not agree with. Look at who owns Yahoo, and make up your own mind.
I had a similar experience...check it out...

So do they think GW is a REAL Christian? And they don't agree with me? It's not an answer because why? Because they don't like it? Or is it because it doesn't agree with their political agenda?
Like if you disagree with the admin, you are not a real American.

Yahoo isn't a government entity. The First Amendment applies only to governmental intervention in speech, assembly, press, petition for redress, etc.
