I agree with you. I'm just as bad, I often feel I want to vote Green but always end up voting for one of the three main parties (well, two main parties actually as I haven't voted for the Blue team). I think its because everyone imagines only Labour and Conservative are the parties that will get in - Lib Dems for protest vote etc. If, as you say, people actually voted for the policies they liked it would be a very interesting outcome.

There's nothing BLIND about voting for and following a major political party, Labour, Conservative or Liberal. Any of these three, but most particularly Labour or Conservative, are certain to form a government following an election. Voting for a minor unknown party is only any use at local elections. Indeed in my youth, "the misbegotten years", it was common practise to do just that. However, over the years, the people have seen that the 'majors' have the real power.

The major political parties of UK present a 'broad church' approach to the electorate. This means that most people will find something within a given party which suits them, whether it be lower taxes, reform of education or any other issue which concerns them.

If a political party were to come along, such as UKIP, it would ultimately fail here in UK but it might have success at the Euro Parliamentary elections.

Do not waste your vote.

The problem is that some of the smaller parties like the Green party do not have enough support to get into government. I think this has to do with peoples perception of them. I heard some people saying that the Green party is only interested in green issues.

These people are more worried about crime, education, council tax than in green issues. If the Green party was able to to change it's perception then maybe they would have a chance.

I'm personally going to vote for one of the main parties unless someone can come up with something better.

The British are inherently conservative with a small c. Most minor parties have an agenda which we simply do not like or trust. I think we all know that the BNP is poisonous but how many know that the Green party is not only an extreme left wing party but that they would have us back in the middle ages? Monster Raving Loonies are a good laugh but not a serious prospect for Government. The only alternative parties that I would consider are UKIP and anyone with the guts to introduce an English Party.

there is not any longer something BLIND approximately balloting for and following an significant political social accumulating, Labour, Conservative or Liberal. Any of those 3, yet optimum fairly Labour or Conservative, are confident to type a central authority following an election. balloting for a minor unknown social accumulating is in straightforward words any use at indoors attain elections. easily in my little ones, "the misbegotten years", it replaced into customer-friendly training to do in straightforward words that. regardless of the elementary certainty that, by using way of the years, the individuals have seen that the 'majors' have the real skill. the foremost political activities of uk contemporary a 'huge church' innovations-set to the electorate. this suggests that optimum human beings will hit upon something indoors a given social accumulating which inserts them, no remember if or no longer it relatively is decrease taxes, reform of preparation or diverse difficulty which concerns them. I think you've raised a very good point. I think most people believe that if they vote for a small party they're wasting their vote.
This is a shame really because how are these smaller parties
(you may agree with some of their ideas) are ever going to get anywhere if we, the voter persist with the silly attitude that you are wasting your vote.

they're popular for a reason. labour's going further right, the cons are going further left, moderation reflects the general attitude across britain. most of the others are too far left or right (BNP, UKIP), only have one real agenda (green), or are only trying to gain votes in scotland/wales/NI
