I bite my nails quite badly and I've tried o stop by putting bitter nail polish stuff on my nails but it didn't work, I just get used to the taste... Does anyone have remedies that are guaranteed to work?

I have also bitten my nails my whole life (I'm 34 now) and that stuff doesn't work for me either. The only thing that has ever (temporarily) worked for me was to get a good clear nail polish and put two coats on. Whenever I got the urge to bite I peeled the polish off instead. When they start to grow I would really take care of them and paint them, a lot. Peeling the nail polish off did cause my nails to weaken a bit but I just made sure they were painted at all times. I have actually grown them out a few times by doing this but after a few months I would just have a nail biting party with my self and they would all be bitten off before I even realized I was doing it. I know I probably sound a little discouraging but this is just what happens with me. Maybe it would work better for you. But I do understand what you are going through. A lot of people tell me to just stop, I have had friends actually slap my hands away from my mouth but they just don't understand what biting my nails does for me. It is as calming to me as Xanax is to other people. My husband finally understands and leaves me alone about it and my friends have begun to understand that trying to forcefully make me stop just causes me to get angry and them bite them even more. Anyway, like I said I understand the problem you are facing and I hope my advice works for you better than it did for me>>>:)

Hi, I am a nail tech and working for a Spa. My clients who have the same habit told me that as long as they are getting an expensive spa manicure weekly, they don't bite as much. Also I do hand painted nail art and they are a bit expensive. They don't want to ruin the art and the cost! Maybe you should try to get manicure every week?

Spray your fingers with pepper spray, or vinegar, that should definetly stop you!
