I pretty much like any novel except sci-fi. I love to collect cookbooks, Irish History,Civil War, Poetry or any book that may teach me something.
I like both Fiction and non-fiction. Any book that has me thinking will always be recommended to a friend.

Non-fiction. Mostly sports biographies and music biographies.
Right now I am halfway through a great book about the Beatles that came out about a year ago. Historical biographies are great too. I love history.

i read a lot of sci-fi, especially the type that deals with alien civilizations (as in John Varley's works), alternate history (Harry Turtledove), or colonization of distant, oddball planets. None of that Star Wars pseudo-political, light sabers and space battles stuff for me.

Cookbooks. But for real reading, it has to be non-fiction only. Either about food, history, or the history and development of food. I just can't do fiction, it's such a waste of my day. I'd rather be learning something.
