My favourite book is House of Sand and Fog by Andre Dubus II. It's about an Iranian General who flees Iran with his family after the fall of the Shah and settles in America. He has left a grand life of honour and wealth for a humble one in the US, but tries desperately to protect his family from the humiliation of it all. One another level is an American girl who is victim of the system and loses her house and is virtually on the streets. Their lives cross and the story is brilliant, especially because of Dubus' ability to see life from two very different vantages.

I love the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. It's about agirl, Bella, who moves to Forks, Washington from Pheonix, Arizona, that finds love in a boy, Edward, who she finds out is a vampire. It's really good. It has adventure, romance, and fantasy along with realism. You should check out the website.
