There are more important considerations than brand.
Look for a long warranty. Most cover 6, 9, or 12 years. Heaters with the lowest and highest warranties differ by just $50 to $100 for gas units. But there are much bigger differences inside.
Most higher-warranty gas heaters have bigger burners and better heat transfer for faster water heating, along with more anode material and thicker insulation.
Longer coverage is especially important considering that warranties typically cover only the heater, not the labor you’ll pay a pro to install a new one.
You may have heard about tankless water heaters, which save energy by heating only the water you draw. Those savings can add up to some $50 per year compared with conventional heaters. But even at that rate, it will take more than 25 years to recoup the extra $1,300 or so those units cost.

feels like it will be 2 issues did you position contained in the dip tube contained in the chilly area of the water heater or did you're making effective it had one . without it the water mixes each and every time its used so it has to go back backup to temp . probability 2 did it have a diffusion tank on the former installation or is the pop off leaking each and every time the water heater fires . No boom tank and the water has to bypass some the position at the same time as it expands because it heats , in many cases out the pop off and extra chilly water is equipped in because the stress drops . must be a million of those or you've the nice and comfortable and chilly backwards and that is exceptionally demanding to due with an same alternative unit . seem up the type on AO Smith and reread the installation preparation perhaps it is going to allow you to recognize if the dip tube become contained in the container or got here put in from the production facility have considered both .`

It sounds like you have a water problem that is causing the rust. Call a plumbing shop and explain your problem. AO Smith makes a good water heater as do many other companies, however it there is a problem with the water rusting, buying another water heater may not correct the issue.

I'll leave the brand to others. However, do get a electronic ignition water heater. I've had one in the past, and didn't get the electronic ignition with this one-- and I'm very sorry I didn't.
good luck

KENMORE !!!! sears product, 1st one lasted close to 30 yrs and on the 2nd which I've had now for 9 yrs, the rust and all that is kinda normal, long as it's not through to where it's leaking it's normal from the minerals in your water. could always drain it every now and then to clean and flush all the sand and crap that makes them loose their longevity.
