You won't be able to get a turtle under 4" length. This is federal law. So if you're looking for the baby red-eared slider that were about the size of a quarter, you won't be able to get them. You can still get larger ones (4"+) at the major pet stores (Petco, PetSmart, Pet Supplies Plus) have them for about $20 (my area anyway).

depending on the type of turtle you are looking for. usually, red eared sliders run anywhere inbetween 10$ and 20$.

other than that, do some research before you just go and buy a turtle. i am not saying that they make bad pets or anything, but they can carry salmonella, as most reptiles and amphibians can carry, and they are also known for getting worms as well.

i use to work in a petco here in michigan, and the turtles that we got in from a new distributor that we switched to gave us worm infected turtles, which in turn spread to the other turtles that we had. we had to take them all to the vet, and had to quarantien them.

hope that helps ya

Turtles are high, my aunt tried to get one last year, and the prices were ranged from $50-$400, and the one that cost $50 wasn't in good condition.
